Unit 2 Healthy Lifestyle课时素养检测 八 Unit 2 Period 4Ⅰ. 阅读理解 The influence of America is increasing in my country. Spanish people drink Coca Cola, wear blue jeans, watch Hollywood movies, listen to American music and eat fast food, and they do these things every day. I think that American movies are a good way to spread American culture because people are often influenced by what they see in the movies. Most of the programs and documentaries(纪录片) we watch on TV are from America, and most of the movies we go to see are made in Hollywood. In the last few years, the government has tried to protect the Spanish movies. Now, in our cinemas, at least twenty percent of the movies which are shown must be from Spain or from other countries in Europe. American culture is a part of Spanish life now. It’s certain that many things from America are as much a part of people’s lives as Spanish things. For example, Coca Cola is as familiar to everybody as any typical Spanish product. I’ve known about Coca Cola for my whole life. However, it’s different with Western fast food. For example, I don’t think McDonald’s is as successful in Spain as it is in other countries. In my opinion, one of the reasons may be the lifestyle of the Spanish people. The Spanish people normally eat at home. On the other hand, maybe McDonald’s hamburgers will eventually replace the famous Spanish tapas. It’s true that in every city in Spain you can find a McDonald’s, and it is more popular among the Spanish children than among the adults. In any case, it’s obvious that American culture is becoming more and more a part of our lives every day. 【语篇概述】本文为说明文, 介绍美国文化, 尤其是饮食文化对西班牙人日常生活的影响。

It’s a great way for children to take a break from academics and release extra energy. It also helps them lead fuller and happier lives as regular sports have proven to improve overall well-being. The physical benefits of doing sports are probably the most obvious. Regardless of your fitness level when you start playing sports, you’ll notice an increase in your overall fitness once you’re involved. 1 Basketball players focus on strength training; football players work on speed while track athletes train through longer runs. The training process helps promote physical fitness and performances in competitions.    2 Playing sports contributes to mental health, helping to increase confidence and self-worth. A pat on the back, high-five from a teammate, or handshake after a match really boosts a child’s confidence. Words of praise and encouragement from the coach, parents and other players raise the self-worth. 3 So after a game, it’s a better idea to ask “Did you enjoy the game? ” rather than “Did you win? ” Children who participate in sports might also benefit from the social aspect, feeling part of a group, building up accountability and leadership. 4 Teamwork involves both being dependable as a teammate and learning to rely on your teammates to achieve a positive outcome. Teamwork breeds accountability and challenges you to be responsible for your actions. Being part of a team gives you an opportunity to be a leader.  Discipline is another social advantage. Most organized sports require a strict training and practice schedule. As a student-athlete, you need to balance academics and athletics. 5   There is no shortage of reasons to find a sport to get involved in. Are you ready to go? Pick one and get moving! A. It’s not just your body that benefits from sports. B. Therefore, playing sports is going to make you more fit. C. But remember, a child’s self-worth should not be distinguished by victory or loss. D. If you play group sports, you’ll be part of a team that takes direction from a coach. E. Nearly every sport requires physical activities and the skills needed to be competitive. F. Among these, learning how to function as part of a team is the most important advantage. G. Of course, I hadn’t seen it because I’m not that into food. But I do get hungry for adventure sometimes, so I decided to watch the show. This is when I was introduced to the chef Francis Mallmann. He makes choices; he doesn’t plan. When he was young, he looked for instructors and experiences, not books or paths. He honored his roots but enjoyed the world and sought things and places he didn’t know. He doesn’t cling to one lifestyle and he doesn’t bend to expectations. This made me wonder: Aren’t we supposed to assess risks, have a plan and then make our move? I grew up thinking I had to have a plan and have long-term stability in front of me. When I saw Mallmann doing what made him happy, everything changed. I thought to myself, “That’s how we’re supposed to live. ” Being true to myself, I have already reconciled(和解)with the shame of being inspired by a TV show. Mallmann is inspired by nature, food and language. Me? My life-changing moment came from watching Netflix with my dollar store reading glasses on. No wonder I felt slightly unfulfilled. After watching Mallmann, I felt as if I’d stood up from a cozy fireplace and the blanket of my life just fell to the ground. I submitted my leave of absence application to my employer less than a month later. I’m now full of excitement. I’m leaving my job and a good salary, and I’m going to do things that feed my soul. Michael Kernis and Brian Goldman, psychologists at Clayton State University in Georgia, studied the benefits of authenticity(真实性)and being true to yourself. Some of the benefits of following your inner voice include enjoying a strong sense of purpose in life, greater confidence, healthier relationships and strong skills to deal with change or difficulty. So, if you’re out there living an interesting life and you meet Mallmann, throw one of his burnt potatoes at him for me. And then tell him I say thank you. I might soon be hungrier and poorer than I was before, but at least I’ll be staying true to who I am. I have Mallmann to thank for that. 【语篇概述】本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。
